On June 9th<\/sup>, 2022, the Foundation lost its brightest guiding light with the passing of Mrs. Margit Sperling Cotsen, who died at her Beverly Hills home following a brief illness.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Cotsen joined the Board of Directors in 2006 and stepped into the role of Founding Director and Board Chair in 2017, after the passing of her beloved husband, Lloyd Cotsen.\u00a0 Mrs. \u201cC\u201d, as she was affectionately known to many friends and staff, was a steadfast protector of the Foundation\u2019s mission \u201cto transform good teachers into great teachers\u201d and was a passionate dedicated advocate for the ART of TEACHING program. \u00a0Always a source of warmth and encouragement, Mrs. Cotsen relished meeting and speaking with teachers and administrators throughout the year, at the Foundation\u2019s conferences, and introducing the End of Year Graduation Luncheons. \u00a0Even during the pandemic, she was active in the leadership of all facets of the program and participated in the conferences virtually. \u00a0Her inspiring words and caring, gracious, reassuring style consistently left those around her feeling valued and appreciated.<\/p>\n

The Foundation\u2019s Board of Directors and staff remain committed to realizing Mr. and Mrs. Cotsen\u2019s vision of the ART of TEACHING program and carrying on the incredible work that they so lovingly began and continuously nurtured.<\/p>\n
